MY MISSION IS TO PROVIDE A SAFE SPACE
FOR UNDERSTANDING, HEALING, AND HOPE
SO THAT INDIVIDUALS CAN BEGIN TO EXPERIENCE
WHO THEY ARE, WHO GOD IS,
AND THE BEAUTY OF THEIR STORY.
Core Values
Competence and ExcellenceI value professional excellence and accountability as defined by the State of North Carolina and the broader professional community of professional counselors (ACA, AACC). I strive to apply the highest level of Biblical, theological, clinical, and scientific knowledge and training possible to the lives and situations I am asked to serve. (John 8:32).
GrowthWhile I embrace my own struggles, I place a high value on personal, relational and spiritual growth. I resist being defined or fatally limited by my failures and weaknesses; I strive for growth consistent with the Image in which we were uniquely created. It is God's purpose for us to change and grow and the good news is He is working in us and through us to bring about change!
The Internal lifeThe conversation between Jesus and the woman at the well is one place in scripture where I find help with understanding counseling others. In this dialogue, Jesus revealed the woman to herself before he revealed himself to the woman (John 4:4-26). Jesus helped the woman think about her pain and suffering and her yearning for God in ways that were transforming. In counseling I spend much time considering ones internal self (not just targeting problem behaviors).
LoveExperiencing the love of God changes us. I desire the love of Christ to be expressed through my counseling to the lives and situations I am asked to serve in. (1 Peter 2:24; Mark 2:3-5; John 4:4-26; 1 John 3:23; Ephesians 3:16-21; Galatians 4:19; 2 Corinthians 5:16; 1 Timothy 1:5)

Participation in the Christian Community and Our Relational DesignAs humans we are made in the image of God. Our God is a relational God as seen in the interaction between the Father, Son and Holy Spirit throughout the scriptures. I believe we are in need of relational love and acceptance that can only be fully met through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Along with our relationship with God, I believe God has blessed us with "a body" of believers. I value participating in a community of faith together for the purpose of encouraging each other, building each other up in Christ, bearing with one another, carrying each other’s burdens, praying for each other, and loving each other as Christ has taught us. (Ephesians 4:2; 1 Thessalonians 5:11; Galatians 6:2; James 3:17-18; James 5:16; John 15:12, 13; Colossians 3:12-14) I understand myself to be a part of the Christian community and, as such, a servant to that community, as well as a servant to the broader community of Jackson and Macon Counties. I want to support the Church in fulfilling its calling to be the primary provider of soul care in the Christian community. (Isaiah 61:1-3) Maintaining my relationship with Christ and other Christians is an extremely important part of me being a counselor. TruthI value the Bible as the standard for truth. The quote from C.S. Lewis sums up my thoughts: "I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen. Not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else." Whether one is considering psychological research/theory, or a therapeutic method, the Bible is the standard.

My prayer is that my training in Christian counseling will not only help
relieve symptoms and solve some problems, but that, more importantly,
I will be part of the Spirit-driven process of you or your loved ones
being formed into the image of Christ (which is our greatest good and joy).
